MOST OF COURTS MALAYSIA STAFF GET VACCINATED
Leading retailer encourages staff to get vaccinated under the RiVAC program introduced by The Ministry of
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP)
9 AUGUST 2021, KUALA LUMPUR – One of the leading consumer retailers of IT, electronics and furniture, COURTS Malaysia, will be arranging for its frontline staff and other workforce to be vaccinated under the Retail Industry Vaccination Program (RiVAC).
RiVAC is one of the public-private strategies by the government fully supported by the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), between the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) and retail industry players, to accelerate the vaccination for workers in the retail sector to help achieve 80% cluster immunity (herd immunity) in the country. When KPDNHEP requested retailers to allow retail employees to be prioritized in the Government’s vaccination program, COURTS Malaysia implemented an internal campaign to strongly encourage all its employees to register for vaccination although this is a voluntary exercise.
“The recent surge of the Delta variant has left the company scrambling to adapt to a shifting landscape of mask and vaccination requirement. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the single most effective thing we can do to protect our team members, their families and their colleagues. We acknowledge the need for our workers in these sectors to be vaccinated as soon as possible alongside the entire spectrum of the retail industry,” said Harry Higashiura, Country CEO of COURTS Malaysia.
Work from Home (WFH) as well as online learning have been widely practiced since the Movement Control Order (PKP) began, and COURTS has taken up the responsibility to provide a safe shopping environment for its customers to purchase essential business and study items under the new norm.
“In COURTS Malaysia, we are seriously looking into getting our sta¬ff to be fully vaccinated as it will help the country in revitalising businesses and spur the economy. We are working closely with our internal and external stakeholders to ensure our workforce at the frontlines are vaccinated as soon as possible. Especially during this time when all of our outlets are allowed to operate, this is the least we can do to ensure our customers have a safer shopping environment,” he added.

All COURTS staff who have gotten their 2 doses will be acknowledged with a custom-made button badge.
On other developments, COURTS Malaysia will only allow vaccinated staff to work on-site, and all
staff are encouraged to work from home as much as possible.
